Quad Core Laptop. Which is the best?

Is the Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q6700 / 8MB L2 Cache, 2.66GHz, 1066MHz FSB a lot better than the Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q6600 / 8MB L2 Cache, 2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB
How do both of these compare to the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor E8400 / 6MB L2 Cache, 3.0GHz, 1333MHz FSB
Or is this laptop a total hoax?
The Quad core Extreme Q6700 and Q6600, and E8400 are not going to offer that much difference performance-wise. The Q6600/6700 are able to process more data,and are therefore technically faster, but have a slower clock speed than the E8400. In the end, since nothing can take advantage of Quad cores yet, The clock speed should be what you focus on.
All are desktop cpu’s one running 3.0, one at 2.4 and the other at 2.67. The only ones that I know that offer this cpu is Vigor on the Atlantis rigs and of course the Sager NP9262 that you linked.
The speed is what you want, so considering the E8400 runs at 3.0 GHz that is the one I would choose. Quad core are nice for heavy multi-tasking, but there isn’t that much right now that can take advantage of 4 cores.
Still though,Dual core Extreme with the fastest speed is what you should shoot for. Alot of people are confused when it comes to dual or quad cores, they are under the impression the speed is doubled, or quadrupled. This is not the case. If it runs at 2.67 GHz, then it ONLY runs at 2.67 GHz, but with just more cores to process the info simultaneously.
To give you a comparison_
Alienware’s fastest cpu in the Area-51 m15x is the Intel core2 Extreme x9000 2.8 Ghz 800 Mhz fsb 4mb cache and has a 3DMARK06 CPU SCORE of 2562. This is a fast and very powerful dual core.
The intel Quad Core Q6700 @2.67 Ghz has a 1066 Mhz fsb,with a 2x4MB cach, and a 3dmark06 CPU SCORE of 4022. That is a god awful amount of performance and a slightly slower but still excellent cpu speed.
The Core2Extreme E8400 has reached a 3DMARK06 CPU SCORE of 3324.
The E8400 is cheaper than the Q6700/Q6600 only because it is a dual core versus a quad core- essentially one cpu with 2 cores versus 2 cpu’s with 2 cores each- there is no sense in paying a premium for 4 cores when nothing can take advantage of them. Go with the faster 3.0 GHz Core2Duo Extreme, and save some money.
